Excerpts from an interview with Greece German, internationally acclaimed photographer

“I’m interested in these temporary, ephemeral spaces, that despite their impermanence, exist permanently as everpresent features in the American landscape and collective zeitgeist. They are literally everywhere. Some films have even put them into skyscrapers.”

“As bodies that move, we take the notion of this architectural motion for granted. I wanted to expose the dichtomies of stillness and movement through photography, a medium that attempts, or at the least presents itself as freezing time-slash-light.”

“The concept where this mobile real estate ownership is a prerequisite luxury for participation in a society materializes in the United States. In other countries, attempts at mirroring the American Dream fail by dint of afforadable public transportation, walkable cities, accessible third spaces. God forbid public restrooms. The ideas or ideals of ‘freedom’ , whatever we mean by that term held dear by American humans, are in fact, granted to American vehicles. Through my camera, I show the true American subject as the cars themselves, versus the people who simply drive them.”

“Why ask about me about planes? Well, I absolutely refuse to fly. I’m utterly terrified of it. I’m not going to get into that now. I’m scared of many things.”
